SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral services for "Glynn" "Jerry" "Shakey" Saunders, Jr., 68, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Matt Impson. Interment will follow in Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the funeral home.
Glynn was born June 5, 1944 in Shreveport, LA to Clarence and Emma Saunders. Glynn went to be with His Lord January 21, 2013. He was retired from Arkla Gas after 36 years of service. He was the maintenance supervisor at Holy Angels for the last 13 years. Glynn was a Parishioner at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church. Clarence proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Glynn especially enjoyed coaching Dixie League Baseball teams for years in Shreveport, LA. He touched the lives of many children. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. Glynn loved his family especially and a tremendous void is now left in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda Louise Saunders. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy C. Saunders; sons, Ray Saunders and wife, Amber, Bear Saunders and wife, Amelia, Ron Saunders, R.P. Saunders; grandchildren, Isabelle Saunders, Lily Saunders, Noah Saunders, Emma Saunders, Eli Saunders, and Ella Saunders; and siblings, Barbara Callender and husband, Bill, Janie Blandino and husband, Ray, Joyce Tatum and husband, Charles, and Judy Pugh and husband, Bobby; and his best friend, Steve Cooley.
Pallbearers will be Chris Falls, Chase Falls, Jacob Cox, Randall Daigre, Justin Gordey, and Chris Von Zynda.
