Judge John Richard Ballard

Shreveport, LA - John entered into the presence of his Lord on October 10, 2015 at Baylor Medical Center, Dallas, Texas.

He is a graduate of North Caddo High School, LSU and LSU Law School. Following law school, he served in the U.S. Army for two years with a tour in Viet Nam. After Viet Nam, John began his law career in Shreveport, LA. He served as City Judge and retired as District Judge. After retirement, he enjoyed Mediating and chairing Medical Review Panels. He was a longtime active member of Broadmoor Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School Classes for many years.

He was born in Shreveport, LA to John W. and Annie Lee Ballard on October 9, 1939. His survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Sue Willis Ballard, his "favorite" son, David Willis Ballard and wife Aimee, his cherished grandchildren, Will, Cole and Annie Ballard. He was affectionately known as "Pop" to his grandsons and "Popadoodle" to his granddaughter. He will be dearly missed. Also surviving him are his brother, Pete Ballard and wife, Linda, his sister-in-law Karen Durham and husband, Ed, brother-in-law, Tom Willis and wife, Wendy and numerous other family members.

Visitation will take place at Osborn Funeral Home, Tuesday, October 13 at 5:30pm to 7:30 pm, with private graveside services Wednesday.

The family requests that memorials be made to Shreveport , 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA 71103. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care and concern of Dr. Rick Michael and Dr. Jonathan Davis.
