Johnny Marvin Deem

Johnny Marvin Deem, 79, born October 10, 1934 passed away on October 18, 2013 in Tucson, AZ at the VA Hospital from a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Friday, October 25, 2013 at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA, officiated by Rev. Mike McGee. Visitation will be Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 6-8 pm at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home. Johnny was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Marvin Eugene Deem and Jessie Griffith Deem. Johnny spent most of his childhood years in Beaumont, TX. Johnny joined the Marine Corp at the age of 18 and proudly served his country for 4 years. After his time in the service, he moved back to Beaumont, he enrolled in Lamar Technical College, where he trained in pipefitting and welding. Our family moved to Arizona in 1972-1982 where Johnny worked Kennecott Copper Corp. The work he was most proud of was working for MeChue Astronautical Corp. in New Orleans, LA where he worked on the shuttle that sent the first man to the moon.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, three children; Donald Scott, Karen Renee and Leslie Joseph, one grandson Joshua Kmak, 3 siblings; Reginald Eugene, Harlan Ray and Gloria LaRousse. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Alma Rose "Smith" Deem of the Shreveport/Tucson Area, 3 children; Johnny Keith of Tucson, Steven Lynn of Shreveport, Angela Marie Kmak and his favorite son in law Kenneth Kmak of Tucson, his grandchildren, Kristopher and Stephanie Kmak.
