Lexi Rene Gordon

Lexi Rene Gordon, age 2, of Keithville, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2014 after a lifetime fight with Tay-Sachs disease, surrounded by family. She was born in Junction City, Kansas on March 30,2011.

In her few short years, Lexi taught those around her to embrace each day and brought many people together for greater good. Lexi inspired many fundraisers including several concerts and a local fun run to raise awareness of Tay-Sachs and raised thousands in donations to the Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation.

Lexi's interests included: sunshine, laughing, playing on the sofa with her sister, Lena, snuggling, spending time with her family, watching football with her daddy, eating gerber puffs, "fuzzy" the bear (her bedside companion), going for strolls and listening to music.

Lexi is survived by her mother and father, Tracy and Staff Sergeant Timothy Bryan Gordon, Jr., and her beloved sister, Lena. Surviving grandparents include Debbie and her husband, Walter Smith, Cliff Barrington, Mark Henson, Becky and her husband, Joe Lee, and Timothy Gordon, Sr. She is survived by great grandparents Joan "GG" and Temple Pyle, Ann and her husband, Frank Smith, Mildred Henson, Betty Jo Gordon, and Dennis and his wife, Jacque Woodfin. Great aunts and uncles Denise and Jimmy Boyter, Donna and Kevin McCasland, Angela and Don Lynch, Scott Woodfin, Sandi and David Pilinski, Donna Henson, Charles Henson, Jr., Shannon Henson, Rhonda and Ricky Cassidy, Robin and Jerry Jones and Roma Hughes. Uncles Jessie Henson and Brandon Massey and her cousins Alex and Lyric, and many more cousins and family members. She is preceded in death by her great grandfathers, Charles Henson, Sr. and Raymond Gordon.

Pallbearers will be Jessie Henson, Alan Martin, Mike Roberts and Tom Bryant.

Services for Lexi will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Summer Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jody Dempsey and Mickey Hoss officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Funeral Home in Shreveport. Interment will take place in Rose-Neath's Cemetery in Bossier City, LA.

The Gordon family wants to extend heartfelt gratitude to the pediatric staff at LSUHSC, Trinity Home Health and care givers Renel Martin, Janine Kreamer and Latasha Gilmer, Physical Therapists Holley Furrow, Karen Vandersypen and Adrienne Cordaro, Dr. Amanda Kampert, Regional Hospice, Julie Vail and all who helped and supported throughout Lexi's illness. A very special thanks goes to Kim Brickman for her dedication to Lexi and to Kassi Robinson, founder of Pay it Forward Networking.
