Lynda Lee Scurlock

Lynda Lee Scurlock, of Dallas, went to be with Jesus Saturday, March 16, 2013. She was born March 6, 1938, in Center, Texas, the daughter of Clarence Paul and Hazel Norris Scurlock.

Lynda graduated from Center High School in Center, Texas and attended Centenary College in Shreveport transferring to SMU where she earned her bachelors and masters in education. She worked as a teacher and counselor for 40 years in the Dallas public schools. Lynda was an active member of: Lovers Lane United Methodist, Agape Sunday School class, Delta Kappa Gamma, Dallas Retired Teachers, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Dallas Arboretum volunteer. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, bridge, gardening, fishing, and spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her beloved brother, Ray Scurlock and sister-in-law, Melba, and many adoring nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews.

Lynda was dedicated to education and enjoyed traveling to all parts of the world. However, she can be most characterized by her generosity which was beyond compare. She not only gave generously of her finances by establishing multiple scholarships and adding a room to school, but she gave of her time generously to not only her family but to those in need.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John T. Scurlock.

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Lovers Lane United Methodist in the Sanctuary. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 19 at Fairview Cemetery in Center, Texas. Arrangements will be handled by Mangum Funeral Home in Center, Texas.

Pall Bearers and Honorary Pall Bearers will be her great Nephews: Paul Dodd, Cody Lenert, Patrick Dodd, Peyton Dodd, Alexander Scurlock, Clint Scurlock, Peter Scurlock, Josh Karkoska, Daniel Karkoska, Mials Scurlock, and Tyler Scurlock.
