VIVIAN, LA, Funeral services for Martha Benson Laffoon, 85, of Vivian, Louisiana will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Alvin Astrup officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until service time Monday at the Centuries Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park.
Mrs. Laffoon passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013 in Vivian, Louisiana due to Alzheimer's complications and pneumonia. She was born in Mansfield, Louisiana on August 20, 1927 to Verna (Lester) and Ed Benson. Mrs. Laffoon worked as a bookkeeper until her parents became ill, then she cared for them and other elderly friends. She was a life-long member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She spent many happy hours with her family and her hobbies of sewing, knitting and painting porcelain dolls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Doris Williams and Betty Dixon, her husband, Roscoe Laffoon and her best friend, Jim Rogers. She is survived by four nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
