SHREVEPORT, LA - Teresa passed into heaven on Friday, November 9, 2012 , after a lengthy illness.
Teresa was born on September 4, 1925 to Jesse and Katie Ward in the town of Hooks, TX. She spent most of her life in her beloved N. East Texas home, except when traveling over seas with her husband Erwin Kaps, while he served our country in the U. S. Air Force.
Teresa was a homemaker most of her life. She also worked at the Lone Star Ammunition plant during World War II.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erwin Kaps; brother, Ira Ward; daughter, Brenda Walraven; and a grandbaby, Matthew Rumbo. She is survived by the family she loved so much; her sister, Eleanor Green; her son, Larry Rumbo and wife, Sherri; son, Ted Rumbo and wife, Jan; grandchildren, Donnie Fielder, Deral Wetz, Wendy Walraven, Leigh Booth, Ted, Jr. "Scooter" Rumbo, Stephen "Skip" Rumbo and Peyton Rumbo. She was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, and many precious nieces and nephews.
Teresa will always be remembered by all who knew her as the sweetest, kindest, most gentle loving mother and grandmother. She loved to bake, work in her garden, spend time in her summer kitchen and listen to country music. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog, "Cassie", who she referred to as her "Best Friend".
The family would like to express their special appreciation to the wonderful staff at Village Health Care at The Glen, who so lovingly cared for her these last fifteen months, as well as the nurses and staff at Harmony Life Hospice.
A private memorial service is to be held in her honor, in Texarkana, TX, at a later date.
