HAUGHTON, LA - Celebration of Life service will be held for Theodore Hutches on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. The service will be officiated by Bro. Lee Berthelot, Pastor of Crossroads Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow the service at Hill Crest Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, June 23, 2013, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
Ted was born on November 19, 1937 and was called home on June 20, 2013. He was a member of North Highlands, U.M.C. since he was a child. He enjoyed planting roses and taking care of momma's flowers. Ted enjoyed telling stories about his childhood and military career. His favorite pastime was spending time with his children after his wife passed away.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Mary "Patsy" Scroggins-Hutches, who passed away August 14, 2012; parents, Theo and Jenny Hutches; brother, Johnny Hutches; two brother-in-laws, Harvey Van Brocklyn and Randy Scroggins and son-in-law, James Dean Potter.
Ted is survived by his son, Timothy and wife Billie; daughters, Mary Elisabeth and her husband, Timothy Hoffman and Sherrie and husband, Todd Thibodaux. He was Papa to his grandchildren, Mary Grace "Gracie" Potter-Hoffman, Tiffany and Kevin Cole and great grandsons, Collin and Kamden Cole; in-laws, Joyce Van Brocklyn, Fern Scroggins, Don and Kyle Scroggins, Gale Dzvonick, Rusty and Roger Scroggins. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Hutches-Beavers and husband Ted; brother, Van Hutches and wife Debbie, Don Hutches and wife Carman and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be the U.S Army Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made in his honor to Wounded Warrior Project.
