Tony Davis Obituary

Tony Davis

Shreveport, La. -Funeral services celebrating the life of Tony Davis, 81, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Minister Patrick Hawthorne (son-in-law). Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday.

Mr. Tony Davis passed away at his home on Friday December 18, 2015 following a short illness. He was not only a good husband to his wife Mona Raye who preceded him in death, but he was an equally great father, grandfather, great grandfather, father-in-law, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all.

Mr. Tony enjoyed outside activities. On many occasions he would find some chore to do that would give him reason to putter around outside. His love for wood working was evidenced by many crafts and projects that were on display around his house.

Mr. Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Mona Davis; parents John and Isabella Davis; brothers, John (L.D.) Davis and Arthur Davis; sisters Florence Davis Rodriques (Celie), Bessie Lena Davis (Bonie), and Velma Davis Boswell.

Mr. Davis is survived by brothers Joe Bill Davis and his wife Earline and Charlie Davis; daughters Toni Lynn Davis, Gail Keith and her husband Tony, and Kathy Hawthorne and her husband Patrick; two grandsons Daniel King and his wife Stephanie and Michael Anthony Davis and his wife Cierra; great grandchildren Kaden King and Kyliegh King.

Pallbearers will be Daniel King, Michael Anthony Davis, John Davis, Paul Davis, Tony Keith, and E.J. Boswell. Honorary Pallbearers are Chuck Davis and Hadley Davis.

As per Mr. Tony's request the family encourages casual dress.

The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to Doctor Huan Le, Trinity Home Health, and St. Joseph's Hospice and to all family and friends for their thoughts and prayers.

Tony you will missed, sir, I have never forgotten your wit or your wisdom. To his family I will lift you up in my prayers that our Father in heaven will comfort you during this time. Tony was a thoughtful, hard working, friend and co-worker to many people, and he always spoke of his family, and how much he loved them. I was blessed for having known him.

On many occasions Uncle Tony would tell me how proud he was of his children and his family. His gratefulness for all they had done for him and his great love for his family....I witnessed this, when like clock-work every year, I would receive a calendar from him carefully marked with birthdays and anniversaries of all our family. I have them all and they will be even more precious to me now. Uncle Tony leaves a great legacy for his family...cherish the memories...I know I will! As always, prayers and love to all!
