Waylan Nattin Obituary
Nattin, Sr.
BOSSIER CITY, LA - Services for Waylan Ross Nattin, Sr. will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Dan Hignight and Rev. Beth Sentell. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery, Haughton, LA. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2011 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City.
Mr. Nattin was born August 9, 1923 in Alden Bridge, LA to George Washington Nattin and Eva Leona Strayhan Nattin and went home to be with his trusted Lord and Savior on August 10, 2011. A veteran of WWII, he served in the United States Army and was a member of VFW Post #4588. He was member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and a retired operations manager for P & O Falco. He was a hard working man that loved working in his yard and at his farm in Plain Dealing. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Doris Gleason Nattin; parents; brothers, John R. Nattin, George L. Nattin and sisters, Melba Hudson and Maggie L. Nattin.
Mr. Nattin is survived by his sons, Waylan Ross Nattin, Jr. of Plain Dealing, Rodney Nattin and wife Kay of Bossier City; grandchildren, Steven Nattin and wife Crystal of Shreveport, Rod Nattin and wife Trish of Bossier City, Kayce Nattin Douglas and husband Jim of Bossier City; 11 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Johnnie Nattin of Bossier City and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Mr. Nattin as pallbearers will be Steven Nattin, Rod Nattin, Jr., Jim Douglas, Luke Robin, George Nattin, Jr., David Murphy, Buddy Juneau, Ben Naar, Jerry Hudson, John Hudson and Jerry Berlin.
The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Powers, Dr. Jeffrey Holt and the ER staff at WK Bossier Health Center.
The family requests memorials to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1944 Airline Dr., Bossier City, LA 71112.

To the Nattin Family
I am so sorry to hear of the death of Waylan. I did not know him well but I do know that he was a kind and caring man. He had such a warm and friendly smile. When he was on the trailrides he would always help others including me. He was a true friend to all my family. May he rest in peace.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Waylan Ross Nattin, Sr. our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Waylan. And to Waylan it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II while serving in the U.S. Army. Waylan, we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,307 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Waylan’s family and loved ones.
