Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Billy Barnett Parks, Sr., 87, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2013 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Dr. Chad Hardbarger. Interment will follow at Rose Neath Cemetery on Swan Lake Road in Bossier City, LA. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Billy was born on October 14, 1926 in West Monroe, LA and passed away on December 19, 2013 in Shreveport, LA. He was a devout Christian and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shreveport. Mr. Parks served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Bill retired as a manager from Montgomery Wards. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and was always dedicated and devoted to his family and friends. Mr. Parks was an avid golfer and hunter.
Mr. Parks was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Billy is his wife of 67 years, Betty Parks; son, Billy B. Parks, Jr. and wife Anne; daughter, Cody Parks Herrington and husband Donnie; three grandchildren, Jennifer O'Glee and husband Kyle, Jared Parks and Joshua Parks and two great grandchildren, Isaiah and Ian O'Glee. Mr. Parks is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Honoring Mr. Parks as pallbearers will be: Mark Nix, Dave Long, Dillon Long, Reg Adams, Skipper Hayes and Rodney Fletcher.
