Thomas Dewey Gilmer

MONROE, LA - Tuesday afternoon, March 4, 2014, United States Marine Veteran, Thomas "Tommy" Dewey Gilmer, 57, of Monroe, Louisiana, received the highest commendation attainable as his Commander and Chief; Jesus Christ summoned him from the ranks of mortality to those of immortality where he received a crown of righteousness that fadeth not away.

Tommy faithfully and proudly served his country and received special privilege and commendation for serving in the honor guard during the inauguration of President Ronald Regan.

Tommy now stands shoulder to shoulder with his dad, the late Bobby Gilmer and a host of family members.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Barbara Gilmer of Bossier City; two children, Tommy Gilmer Jr. and wife, Sabrina, and Lydia Kay Gilmer of Monroe; one sister, Bobbie Sue Gilmer of Bossier; and brother, Carlton L. Gilmer and wife, Terri of Haughton, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Bossier on Saturday, March 8, 2014, with visitation at 1:00 PM and the worship service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that charitable contributions be made to New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, PO Box 5606, Bossier City, LA, 71171; the church where Tommy generously donated so much of his time, efforts and finances.
