Roland A. Smith

BENTON, LA - Services for Roland A. Smith, 85, will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 at Cypress Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Tommy Patton, assisted by Rev. Billy Pierce. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery, Haughton, LA. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.

Roland was born to James and Margaret Duncan Smith in Attica, IN on November 29, 1928 and died April 13, 2014 in Bossier City, LA. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the 82nd Airborne. A retired electrician, Roland was also a cattleman and a former Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop #102. Roland was a member of Cypress Baptist Church, where he served as an usher.

His parents and a brother, Alfred Smith precede him in death.

Roland is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lola Harper Smith; son, Tom Smith and granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Smith all of Benton, LA; sister, Margaret Roland of Blanchard, LA; brother, James Smith of Branson, MO and uncle, Bob Buckley.

Honoring Roland as pallbearers will be Tom Smith, Randy Smith, Jerry DeFatta, Henry Cantrell, Glen Sullivan and Larry Classen.
