Carol Oliver Obituary
Johnnie Carol Young Oliver

SHREVEPORT, LA - Life's journey has ended for Johnnie Carol Young Oliver. On April 14, 2014, she went to be with Jesus in the mansion He prepared for her. Visitation for Carol Oliver will be held from 1 pm to 3 pm, Monday, April 21, 2014 with funeral services at 3 pm at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA. Officiating will be Dr. Mike Anderson of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery.

Carol was born January 5, 1945, in Ivan, LA, to John Hubert Young and Mildred Bailey Young. She was the youngest of seven daughters. She graduated valedictorian from Rocky Mount High School.

Carol accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of nine. She was a member of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church, and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She leaves many beloved church members, but has the assurance of being reunited with them in Heaven.

Carol's family was the love of her life. When asked what she wanted for gifts, she would say, "Spend time with me." Her grandchildren were especially her joy, with her favorite quote to them being, "I love you infinity!" She always had time to do anything for her family.

Although this is her formal obituary, Carol was fond of saying, "we write our own obituaries every day of our lives." She spent her life making memories for her family.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lula Williams and Mary Jones, one niece, Dunphey Carrington and three nephews, Jeffery Cook, Jason Cook and Dudley Bell.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 30 years, James E. Oliver, Sr., children, Gene Strong and wife Mikayla of Shreveport, Teri Grantham of Shreveport, James E. Oliver, Jr. of Portland, OR, Terri Kay Oliver of Shreveport; grandchildren, Elliott Strong and wife Cortney of Arlington, TX, Benjamin Lonadier of Shreveport, Molly Adams of Fort Collins, CO, Cyrus, Sydney and Tobias Oliver of Portland, OR and Jon Cornell, Dakota Harris, Mikenzie, Randle and Ely Johnson all of Shreveport; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Gloria Kaczenski and husband Stan of Minden, Peggy Shealy of Bossier City, Barbara Cook and husband Ernest of Bossier City and Wanda Schales of Haughton.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Raymond Bell, Justin Cook, Jarrell Cook, Don Beasley, Ray Bell, and Brett Frazier. Honorary pallbearers will be her high school classmates.

The family desires that memorials be made to Haynes Avenue Baptist Church and/or the Gideons, so that God's Word may be spread around the world.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses on the 4th floor and ICU at Willis Knighton Pierremont.
