Ruth L. Evans

Ruth Evans, (Granny Ruth, Mama, Ruth, GAR, Maw Maw, Granny Peach, Maw E, LaPhaullis) 73 of Vivian, LA but changed her address to Heaven on April 25, 2014 after a wonderful walk with Jesus during her battle with Pancreatic Cancer. A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Vivian officiated by Rev. Mark Crook and Rev. Eddie Briery. There will be a time of visitation on Monday the 28th from 6-8 pm at the church.

Ruth was born August 18, 1940 in Rodessa, LA and lived in Vivian for the past 64 years. She was the owner operator of Toddler Tech Daycare for 17 years where she had a hand in thousands of children and their families' lives. She worked for North Caddo Medical Center in Central Supply, Vivian Healthcare as Activities Director, and Allen's Electric as Housekeeper and kept all the workers fed with her homemade meals. She loved her church and working in the church food pantry and her Lamplighters Sunday school class. She volunteered at NCMC as a Pink Lady. She was honored at the Boston Marathon as a survivor by Shawn Veronese. She was diagnosed in 2009 with pancreatic cancer and became an advocate for research and awareness and she raised over $20,000 for research as the CEO of Team Granny Ruth.

She was preceded in death by her parents Karl Marion Evans Sr. and Ollie Lee Roland Evans, her 5 brothers Karl, Dean, Cedric, John and Donald, her sister Vera Bellotte, and her grandson Jer Ray Richie. Left to cherish her memory is the love of her life her family; her son Chuck and wife Kelli of Jefferson and her daughters, Susie and husband Jerry of Vivian and Tina and husband Jimbo Terry of Trees City, her four stepsons; Cliff, Eric, Kenny and Dennis Davis, her brothers; Charles and wife Norma of Apex, NC and Raymond and wife Carolyn of Raleigh, NC, her 4 sister-in-laws, Helen Shrell of Monroe, LA, Judy Evans of Vivian, Helen Evans of Conn. and Laverne Evans of Vivian, her grandkids; Mikey and wife Ginny, Livi, Kassy and husband Jeff, Katie and husband Noe, Katelyn and husband Levi, Dylan and Wren and 9 great grandkids and number of nieces, nephews and her kids from Toddler Tech.

The family would like to thank Dr. Haynes, Dr. Taylor, Dr. Prine, Dr. Carlisle, Dr. Woods, Dr. Lincoln, Dr. Watkins, Dr. Velevelou, Dr. Le, Dr. Zabari, Dr. Zhang and Dr. Hobley with the entire staff at Willis Knighton Cancer Center and North Caddo Medical Center.

The family requests that everyone wear their Team Granny Ruth shirts or something purple to the memorial service.
