Dorothy Jones Obituary
Dorothy Nan Hill Jones

September 10, 1923-May 4, 2014

SHREVEPORT, LA - Dorothy Nan Hill Jones, 90, left us Sunday, May 4, 2014 to be with our Lord and Savior with her daughter by her side. Dorothy was born in Leesville, LA and lived there until 2007 when her husband of 65 years, Kenneth A. Jones, passed away. After his passing, she made her home in Shreveport with her daughter.

Mama was precious, sweet and quiet. She preferred to be in the background but put everyone's needs and wishes above her own. Her life was one of complete service to others. She and Daddy belonged to the Cattlemen's Association, "every cow in the herd had a name.' She loved her cows and dogs. She was the best cook in the world and delighted in making special "culinary surprises" for us. She even mailed her delicious coconut cakes and tea rings to her brother, Max Hill and his family in Denver. She never forgot any special occasions for any of us. We will miss her sweet smile and gentle spirit.

Mama is survived by daughter, Janie Jones Scruggs (Jimmy); beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Nanette Lachney (Frankie) of Shreveport, LA; Kenneth A. Scruggs (Kelly) of Austin, TX.; sister-in-law, Sarah B. Hill of Denver, CO.; nephews, Michael, Chris and Tommy; "special" relative, Jami Jones of Baltimore, MD.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Conrad Edwards, retired Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. at Holly Grove Cemetery, Anacoco, LA. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

Our family wishes to extend our deepest thanks to the dedicated and compassionate staffs of Thompson Home Health (especially De) and southern Care Hospice (especially Eileen and Aleitha). You blessed us.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Leesville High School Alumni Association, P.O. Box 1381, Leesville, LA 71496-1381, or to the .
