Megan Matilda Rogers

SHREVEPORT, LA - Megan Matilda Rogers was born on November 7, 1994 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Jeffrey Kent and Marie "Crissy" NeJame Rogers. She was unexpectedly taken away from this world on May 14, 2014, due to a tragic motor vehicle accident.

Megan finished middle school at the Calvary Baptist Academy and was voted as the "Best Christian Example".

She graduated from C.E. Byrd High School with the Class of 2013 and went on to LSU Baton Rouge to pursue a degree in Kinesiology. She became a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority at LSU.

Besides being in cheerleading, pep squad, Astra club and the French club, Megan was involved in many Christian activities. She was a gifted artist and a young woman of tremendous faith. One of her favorite quotes was, "When life knocks you down to your knees, just remember you are in the perfect position to pray!"

The visitation for Megan will be held at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., followed by a rosary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 522 E. Flournoy Lucas Road, Shreveport, Louisiana at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating will be Father Charles Glorioso and Very Rev. Philip Michiels.

Megan was the light of our lives and a friend to everyone she met. She was full of life, joy and happiness. There was never a moment when Megan did not spread joy by her infectious laughter. Megan embodied the attributes of Our Lord with her selfless love and will always be an inspiration to all of us.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents George and Matilda NeJame and great grandparents Elijah and Lillian Barnes.

Megan is survived by her parents Kent and Crissy Rogers; her brothers Wesley and Taylor Rogers; and her grandmother Evelyn Rogers of Shreveport, LA; grandfather, Herb and wife Sherry of Melbourne, FL.; aunts, Margaret NeJame of Denver, CO, Karen NeJame of Jacksonville, FL. Lindy Woods and husband Ray of Edmond, OK., Kim Rogers of Shreveport, LA, Rev. Karen Rogers of Gutherie, OK; Amy Perkins and husband Jeff of Alpharetta, GA; uncles, Darrel NeJame and wife Pat, Dr. Gregory Rogers and wife Mimi of Berkeley,CA; cousins, Sara, Kimi and Anna NeJame, Melody and BJ Bodkin, Hannah, Lily and Mike Monsour, Jackson Perkins and Lani Farley.

Honoring Megan as pallbearers will be Ian Bancroft, Brandon Bolton, Andrew Boyter, Colton Conrad, Austin Devers, Crawford George, Gage Horn, Parker Larson, Connor Powell, Cabot Rogers and Ben Warren. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be J.W. Cox, Michael Monsour and Nathan Roberts.
