SHREVEPORT, LA - Frank Austin Canada left this life to be with his Lord Jesus on May 25, 2014, after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, May 27th, 2014, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel; 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport LA 71118. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery, Shreveport LA. Officiating will be Gary Boswell from Westview Christian Church.

Frank was born September 24, 1935 in Delta City MS to Earl and Betty Canada. He spent his childhood in the delta areas of Mississippi and Louisiana. Frank later moved to Hollandale MS and worked in Greenville MS; where he met the love of his life; Sally Mae Cavender. He married her on July 9th, 1964. They had two children; Frank Jr. (Butch) and Susan. They resided in Greenville MS with their two children until 1984; when they moved to Shreveport LA.

Frank served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War from March 26th, 1960 to March 27th, 1963, when he received an honorable discharge. While enlisted, he earned the Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; Earl and Betty Canada, one brother, and two sisters. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 49 years, Sally; son, Frank Jr. (Butch) and wife, Tracy Canada; daughter, Susan and husband, Joel Smith, and four grandchildren who were the apples of his eye; Brandon and Christian Canada and Brent and Cody West; two brothers, Jack Canada and Travis and his wife, Sylvia Canada, as well as many other family and friends.

Honoring Frank as pallbearers are Brandon Canada, Brent West, Cody West, Joel Smith, Quinton Prudhome, Joe Matheny, Gaines Gifford, K.W. Jones and honorary pallbearer, Skipper Gafford.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Brookwood Baptist Church and Westview Christian Church for their support, thoughts, prayers and gifts during this difficult and trying time. We would also like to thank all of the Doctors and staff in the MICU at University Health for their care.
