James Carl Bowman

Mr. James Carl Bowman, 78, of Mooringsport, LA died Thursday, July 10, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Bowman was born July 6, 1936 in Carroll County, Virginia, a son of Robert Taft and Dora King Bowman. He was a proud Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a devout husband, loving father and a God fearing man. He never met a stranger and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 14, 2014 at 12:30 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA with Pastor Mark Briggs officiating. Burial will follow at the Northwest LA Veterans Cemetery, Keithville, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Charles Herrington presiding over the pavillion service at the cemetery.

Mr. Bowman is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, his previous wife, Corine Bowman, and a granddaughter, Lindsey Nicole Bowman. Survivors are his wife of 23 years, Patricia Allen Bowman; one son, James C. Bowman, Jr. and wife Sheila of Belcher; one step daughter, Ann Carpenter and husband Dell of Sarepta, LA; one stepson, Cory Oliver and wife Tami of Bossier; one foster son, Alvin Mays and wife Susie of Arkansas; four brothers, Tommy Bowman of Ellerbe, NC, Ray Bowman of Hoffman, NC, Dwight Bowman of Pinebluff, NC, and Byron Bowman of Carthage, NC; three sisters, Aileene Russell of Hamlet, NC and Virginia Stambaugh of Mooringsport and Juanita Thompson of Troy, NC; his grandchildren, Rachel Bowman of Belcher, Allen Traylor and wife Martha of Shreveport, Jeremy Traylor of Shreveport, Derek Carpenter of Sarepta, Jake and Danny Oliver of Bossier; great grandchildren, Rogelio, Braylon and Avery Traylor and Ella and Jackson Carpenter.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Centuries Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Allen Meadows, Wayne Meadows, Josh Harrell, Robert Mays, Kerry M. Kessler and Robert Broadus.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org or (877) 823-6997.

The family would like to thank Josh Harrell and RN's Angela and Carol of Amedisys Hospice for taking special care of PA!
