Richard Milton Slack

Richard Milton Slack was born January 16, 1958, in Shreveport Louisiana. Richard was raised in Springhill, Louisiana, graduating from Springhill High School in 1976. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Professional Aviation from Louisiana Tech University in 1980. He worked as a Flight Instructor and Corporate Pilot in Shreveport before obtaining his dream job with American Airlines in 1985. Richard became a Captain in 1992 and flew the 727, MD-80, 757 and 767. Sadly his dream to

fly a 777 was never realized.

Richard loved to travel and riding his Harley with his buddies. He loved good food, good wine and good friends and like his father - he never met a stranger. He will be missed by so many who loved him. These true friends have supported him and Christy through this really rough past year. Richard lost his battle with brain cancer on July 7th.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years - Christy Carroll Slack, his sister, Jerry Marie Slack (David Horner), niece Elizabeth Slack Horner and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents - Jeral and Marie Slack and brother, Jeral (Butch) Slack.
