Deborah Miller Obituary


Deborah Leigh Miller left her Earthly Home and entered her Heavenly Home on July 25th in Shreveport, La at the age of 47. Debbie fought a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was a member of Gloster Baptist Church in Gloster, La.

Debbie was born in Shreveport, La. on November 2, 1966. She was a graduate of Southwood High School and briefly attended LSU Shreveport. On February 19, 1997 she gave birth to the love of her life, Brittany Ann Miller. She raised Brittany as a single mother until she met Christian Cook and moved to Keatchie, La., where the three of them resided for 13 years until her death.

Debbie was a very caring and giving person who touched the hearts of everyone she met. She loved family gatherings, holidays, scrap booking, puzzles, eating out ,shopping and anything Disney. She was the Financial Secretary at North Desoto Middle School, where she will be greatly missed by staff, students, parents and especially by the Principal, Keith Simmons, his Secretary, Teri Boston and Custodian, Timmy Tipton. Debbie loved her job, and it was not unusual for her to show up for work the day after a 6 to 7 hour cancer treatment at Willis Knighton Cancer Center.

Debbie was preceded in death by her Mother, Iona Lucille Attaway Miller, who passed away when Debbie was an infant. Also preceding her in death was her maternal Grandparents, Myrtle Attaway Beaudoin, and "Pete" Allen Beaudoin of Natchitoches, La., Paternal Grandparents , Edna H. Miller, and Herman H. Miller of Shreveport, La., Aunt, Catherine Attaway Dickerson of Natchitoches, LA, Uncle Milton Attaway of Shreveport, La., Step Brother Michael Bruce Steakley of Bone Cave, TN.

She is survived by Husband, Christian Cook of Keatchie, LA.,Daughter, Brittany Ann Miller of Keatchie, LA., Father Gerald F. Miller of Shreveport, LA., Sister Patricia Ann Miller Burton and husband Jerry of Benton, LA., Brothers, James Allen Miller and Edy of CoCoa Beach,FL. and Jason Emory Miller and wife LeeAnn of Bone Cave TN., Step Mother, Jimmy M. Sullivan and the Sullivan Families of Bone Cave TN, Uncle, Danny Miller and wife Irma of Stonewall La., Aunt Clara Miller Wright of Lacombe, La., Nieces Amber Burton Nix of Benton, La., Misty Causey Geer of Youngstown, La., Nephews Joey Burton of Benton, La., and Zachary McClain of Logansport, La. and Cousins Cindy Dartalone Weaver of Natchitoches, La., Gwenn Scott of Natchitoches, La., Rhonda Miller Smith of Houston TX, Donna Miller Bozeman of Shreveport, la., and Lisa Miller Castle of Blanchard, La., Randy Leggett and Cordy Bailey of Lacombe La., and Grayson (Monty) Bailey of Shreveport, La., and special friends, Vickie Cox and Teri Nycum of Shreveport, La.

Visitation will be at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Rd. Shreveport, La., on Wednesday, July 30th, at 11:00 A.M.,followed by a service at 12:00 Noon, led by Bro. Timmy Tipton. After the service she will be laid to rest at Centuries Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Barry Rambin, Tyler (Trey) Adams III, Charles (Charley) Roberts, Keith Simmons, Michael (Brandon) McFadden and Bruce Acree.

We would also like to thank the Doctors and Nurses on the 7th floor of Willis Knighton Piermont for the kindness and compassion shown to Debbie during her stay.
