Carolyn Turner Brown
SHREVEPORT, LA - Mrs. Carolyn Turner Brown, 71, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2014 surrounded by her family. Carolyn was born December 17, 1942 in Hodge, LA to John Thomas & Claudine Pyles Turner. She graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. In 1960, Carolyn and Bill Brown were married. They moved many times throughout their 21-year marriage. She was a resident of Shreveport, LA for 35 years. For the past 20 years, Carolyn represented State Farm as a Customer Account Specialist for the Tag Rome State Farm Agency in Bossier City, LA.
Carolyn was a lover of history and books and quite accomplished in both sewing and cooking. She was a delight to be around and loved to laugh. She treasured her friendships and her family particularly her grandson Elliot. She was generous in word and deed with everyone she encountered. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Bill Brown, an infant daughter and her sister, Marilyn Turner Salter. She is survived by her son, Thomas Scott Brown of Fredricksburg, Virginia; her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie & David Alexander of Shreveport, LA and her pride and joy, her grandson, Robert Elliot Redstone, IV as well as a brother and sister-in-law, Maurice & Betty Turner of Madison, MS and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family extends a special thanks and heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Craig Miller and all of the staff at Shreveport Internal Medicine who provided more than a decade of impeccable care to Carolyn. The family was touched by the care Carolyn received in her final days by all of the ICU staff at Willis-Knighton Pierremont, particularly her ICU nurse Genevieve. For going above and beyond, the family wishes to especially thank ICU nurse Barbara Cardin who is indeed an angel.
Others who made this difficult time somewhat bearable are: Dr. Robert Goodman, Dr. Richard Haynie, Dr. Robert Holt, Dr. Richard Kamm, Dr. Mark Mainous and Dr. Iqbal Singh. And in years past, Dr. Gary Roberts, Dr. Chris Shelby and Dr. Ray Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Alexander, Stephen Alexander, Brad Gordon, Robert Redstone, III, Alden Reeves, Sr., Andy Reeves, Bo Reeves, Tag Rome and Dr. Chris Shelby.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 5:00 PM at Osborn Funeral Home.
