Mrs. Cook was a native and lifelong resident of Shreveport. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mary or "Mamaw", as often called, was a gentle soul with a generous spirit. She was a dedicated Catholic and would often be seen with her rosary beads in hand. Many times she would work to no end preparing and planning special events for her cherished family. She collected turtles, enjoyed her, "programs and picture shows", but always loved her family first. She left each grandchild with the feeling they were her favorite and had priceless value. Whether it was a simple bedtime story or a shoulder to cry on, she was always there. Mamaw set an amazing example by always doing the simple, sometimes hard, things in life with class. She was the "North Star" for many regaining their footing after a hard time. So many times her ears heard complaints and problems. So many times her perfect words gave hope and strength. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and most important, a rock solid Christian example. What a blessing you were Mamaw. Such rich memories you have left behind. Rest in peace and we look forward to our next Sunday dinner with you and Jesus.

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, David James Cook, Jr.; sons, David James Cook, III and wife, Gloria Carroll Cook and Stephen A. Cook; sister, Adeline Lecomte Scott and husband, Robert Scott. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Cook Mazzoni and husband, Dr. Paul Mazzoni; grandchildren, David Cook, Michael Cook and wife, Patrice; Stephen Cook and wife, Becky, Mark Cook and wife, Rebecca, Andrew Mazzoni and wife, Dr. Ginny Mazzoni, Adam Mazzoni and wife, Becca and Alex Mazzoni; nieces, Susan Scott, Mary Walker and husband, John; nephew, Edward Cook and wife, Jill; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
