Deacon Charlie Morgan Smith, Sr.

FRIERSON, LA- A celebration of life will be held for Deacon Charlie Morgan Smith, Sr. a longtime resident of Frierson, LA on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 2 p.m. Services will be held at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Kingston, LA where he was a member and faithful servant for more than 70 years. His Pastor, Rev. John Baylor will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 6 to 8pm Saturday evening also at the church.

Charlie was born May 15, 1920. He moved to Frierson after his military career. He died Monday, May 26, 2008 at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home. He was 88 years old.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1947 receiving an Honorable Discharge.

Charlie was married to the late Mary Ann Clark for 56 years and 10 months. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary and sons, Joe Louis and Elbert Jay.

He leaves to cherish his good life, two daughters, Katie Marie Smith Sherman( Alto) of Suisin City, CA and Birdie Byrd (Rev. C.) of Shreveport, LA; five sons, Robert J. Smith and Charlie M. Smith, Jr. of Frierson, LA, Lonnie L. Smith (Carolyn) and Roy L. Smith of Shreveport, LA and Albert R. Smith (Mildred) of Dallas, TX; one brother; three sisters; and numerous other family members and friends. Good Samaritan Funeral Home
