Tommy Ray Dowden

GLOSTER, LA- Funeral services for Tommy Ray Dowden, 78, will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2008 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Brother Ron McLellan of Gloster Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery, Shreveport, LA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Dowden was born on April 8, 1930 in Anacoco, LA to T.C. and Ruth Dowden. He was a resident of Gloster, LA and member of Gloster Baptist Church; He was a Plastering Contractor and owner of Dowden Plastering Co. since 1964. He was a long time member of Orange Masonic Lodge and owner of D-Arrow cattle ranch in Gloster, LA. Tommy enjoyed fox hunting with his pack of foxhounds, but most of all he enjoyed and loved his grandchildren and family and the times he spent with them. He will always be loved and missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Johnny Mack Dowden.

He is survived by his wife, Maura Jane Dowden; sons, Gerald Ray Dowden and wife, Vellen of Frierson, and Douglas F. Dowden and wife, Diane of Steamboat Springs, CO; daughter, Deborah D. Dees and husband, Jim Wood of Gloster, LA; grandchildren, Valerie Wells, Chantel Mynes, Gerald Dowden, Jr., Phillip R. Dees, Jr., Heather Jilg, Thomas Dowden, Lacey Rego, Maura Marie Dees and Haley Perryman; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Devyn, Nikki, Ivan, Dalton, Marshall, Donovan, Reed, Isaac, Ruth, Tyler and Justin and brothers, Lynn Charles Dowden of Henderson, TX and Harvey N. Dowden of New Caney, TX.
