SHREVEPORT, LA - Memorial services for Rev. Thomas Alva Wilson, 85, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2010 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Terry Love assisted by Rev. Lynn Malone. Visitation with the family will be in the church parlor following the service.

Rev. Wilson was born on July 14, 1925 in Fouke, AR to Bertha and Thomas Allen Wilson. He passed away on October 29, 2010 in Shreveport. He was Chaplain for Goodwill Industries for the past 10 years and retired from the United Methodist Church after 36 years of ministry. He was a member of the Sunset Masonic Lodge. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Rev. Wilson cherished spending time with his family, his ministry in the United Methodist Church, music, playing dominoes with the boys, eating good food, and fishing in his old boat.
Preceding Rev. Wilson in death were his parents, his beloved wife of 49 years, Natalie Mitchell Wilson and his sister, Melba Wilson Williams. He is survived by his son, Lamar Wilson; daughters, DeNell Mitchell and husband, Bill; Teri Lee Spinney and husband, Greg; grandchildren, Teresa Schneider and husband, Jeff, Matthew Mitchell and wife, Mary, Grant Rourke and husband, Shawn, Natalie Grabener, Alissa Robinson, Mitchell Wilson, Madeline Wilson; six great-grandchildren; sister, Geneva Hudgins; sisters-in-law, Dee Palmer and husband, Billy, Nelda Gragg and husband, Leon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, LA.
Rev. Wilson's family extends their appreciation to the staffs of Heritage Manor Stratmore and Willis-Knighton LifeCare, as well as Dr. Robert Hernandez and his staff.
