KEITHVILLE, LA - Ellen Laverne "Mimi" Morris, 76, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 as a result of respiratory failure. Services will be held Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home with Brother Steve Gilley, Associate Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Forest Park West Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Laverne was lovingly known to family and friends as Mimi. She was born in DeSoto Parish on June 24, 1934. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and drove cars for local dealers in the Shreveport area. Mimi loved spending time with her family, all her babies and her Sunday school family.
Mimi is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, K.D. Morris; parents, Newton and Annie Bell Temple; brother, Buddy Temple; sister, Helen Morris and great-granddaughter, Kaylee Marie Morris.
Mimi is survived by daughters, Anne Freeman of Bossier City, Cathey Cordell of Keithville; son, Karl Morris and wife, Cindy of Keithville; grandchildren, Jason Freeman, Khara Simpkins, Stephanie Garner, Casey Surmick, Wendi Till, Justin Morris, Josh Paul Morris and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Prine, Jo Morris, Claudine Howard, Maxine Collins, Marie Rascoe, Connie Watson; five brothers-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews; special friend and cousin, Mildred Jordan.
Pallbearers will be Cathey Cordell, Jason Freeman, Casey Surmick, Justin Morris, Josh Paul Morris, and Ryan Simpkins. Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Garner and Brandon Porter.
