Phillip Liberto Obituary


SHREVEPORT, LA - Mr. Phillip Liberto, 81, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Christus Dubuis Health System, after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 pm with a vigil at 6:00 on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2011 at the Chapel of St. Michael the Archangel at The Cathedral of St. John Berchmans. Officiating will be Monsignor Carson LaCaze. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.

Mr. Liberto was a native and lifelong resident of Shreveport, LA. He was a member of The Cathedral of St. John Berchmans. He was a disabled veteran having served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Air Force. He was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol for many years.

Mr. Liberto was preceded in death by his parents, Lena and Richard Liberto, Sr.; his wife of 61 years, Esther Fontana Liberto; and one brother, Anthony Liberto. He is survived by his one and only child, Phyllis Liberto; and brother, Richard Liberto, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Steve Anderson, Ken Donnelly, Tom McKissick, Jay Johnson, Bill Wakeman and Jay Prudhomme.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the entire Christus Dubuis staff for their exceptional care of Mr. Liberto.
