Shreveport, LA - Ernest (Ernie) Linley Coates, beloved husband, daddy, grandpa and pee paw entered the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, October 14, 2011, after a brief illness.
Ernie was born in Mulberry, Kansas on September 19, 1923 to Mabel and Earl Coates. On October 26, 1946, Ernie married Wynona Pousher, who was the love of his life for 65 years. He retired from the KCS Railroad in 1987, after 40 years of service.
His greatest pleasures in life were spending time with his loving family, gardening and fishing.
Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Hwy 80 East, Haughton, LA on Monday, October 17, 2011 from 5 - 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be his grandson, Pastor Duane Tupper. Interment will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Wynona; daughters, Linda Foster and husband John, along with their three children, John Foster, Jr. Randy Foster and wife Summer, Amanda Haskins and husband Doug; and Deborah Tupper and husband Donald, along with their two children, Duane Tupper and wife Melissa, and Mark Tupper. He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Prettyman and Rosalie Taylor and twelve great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Foster, Jr., Randy Foster, Mark Tupper, Doug Haskins, Tyler Foster and Dan Edwards.
