Joseph Anthony Catanese, Sr. Sunrise: November 20, 1925 Sunset: December 31, 2011

Joseph Anthony Catanese, Sr. was born to Loranzo "Lawrence" and Virginia Dolce Catanese on November 20, 1925 in Shreveport, Louisiana. After a lengthy battle with lung cancer, he passed away at the age of 86.

Mr. Catanese lived a long, momentous life. He proudly served in the United States Army where he received an honorable discharge after serving in WWII. His profound strength serves as an illustration of the true meaning of perseverance. He gained the respect of many with the love and compassion he rendered to others. The love and devotion he has shown his wife and family will continue to serve as a solid foundation for our family to stand upon.

Mr. Catanese is preceded in death by his father, Loranzo "Lawrence" Catanese; mother, Virginia Dolce Catanese; five brothers, Sam, Martin, Lawrence, Anthony, William "Billy" Catanese and five sisters, Sarah Tuminello, Josephine Allen, Concettina Catanese (Baby), Concettina Maahs and Virginia Lerchie.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, a union of 43 years, Linda S. Catanese; three sons, Joseph A. Catanese, Jr., Patrick D. Catanese, Steve B. Catanese I and two daughters, Fran L. Catanese Green and Joan A. Catanese Johnson. Also, to cherish his memory are a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

Memorial services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 315 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana 71101, on January 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Immediately following will be a funeral procession to St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, 2300 Texas Avenue, where he will be laid to rest with military honors.
