Delores Byrd Ivy

Delores Byrd Ivy, 72 passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am on Monday at the Chapel of Osborn Funeral Home, with Reverend John Alley officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery.

Mrs. Ivy was a native of Springhill, LA, and a resident of Shreveport. She was a graduate of Northwestern State College. Mrs. Ivy was a teacher and coordinator of the Gifted and Talented Programs of the Caddo Parish School System and retired after over 30 years of teaching. She was an officer with the local Garden Club, officer in the Shreveport Chapter of the Untied Daughters of the Confederacy, and a member of the Pelican Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Ivy had a long-standing Birthday Club, comprised of beloved teacher friends.

Mrs. Ivy was preceded in death by her parents, Delos Latimore Byrd and Myrtle Brooks Byrd, of Springhill, LA; sister, Janice Byrd Harris and her husband, Luke Harris.

She is survived by her daughter, Kayla Ivy Fenner and husband, Keith; son, Kevin Del Ivy and wife, Amy; grandsons, Kendel and Jack Fenner; niece, Jackie Ryland Nichols and husband, Bill; sister, Carolyn Byrd Alley and husband, Rev. John Alley of Alexandria, LA and their children, Lisa Alley Smith and husband, Todd, of The Woodlands, TX and Lynn Alley Wheelis and husband, Steve of Pineville, LA.

The family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to the or St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
