Shreveport, LA—Rev. George Randall (Randy) West, 59, of Shreveport, passed away on June 17, 2012, after a battle with cancer. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on June 23, 2012, at Church at Red River, 230 Flournoy Lucas Road in Shreveport. Rev. Ed Dilworth and Rev. Percy Burns will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm. on June 22, 2012, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road.

Randy was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on May 21, 1953. He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School and received a Bachelor of General Studies from Louisiana State University in Shreveport and a Master of Biblical Studies from Regent University. While studying at Regent, Randy received the Outstanding Theology Student Award. On August 21, 1976, he married Emily Ash West; they were married 35 years.

Randy was a well-known Bible teacher in the area. In his earlier years, he worked for Westminster Presbyterian Church. He also served on staff at Christian Center Church from the late 1970's to the early 1980's. In addition, Randy was the pastor of Hope Community Church in the early 1990's and continued to minister at many churches, home groups and community groups for over 35 years.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, J. C. and Doris West. He is survived by his wife Emily and their seven children: Jonathan, Elizabeth, Joshua, Joel, Jeffrey and Jacob West, Joy West Jamison and her husband Shane, and grandchildren Camille and Archer Jamison. He is also survived by his brother John E. West and his wife Suzanne, sister Kim West and her husband Jim, as well as several other relatives and close friend Bill Ponder.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bible Teaching Fellowship, 605 Hyde Park Place, Shreveport, LA 71108. The family wishes to thank those who have supported their ministry over years.
