STONEWALL, LA - Funeral services honoring the life of Jerry I. Simmons, 77, will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 10 AM at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield. Officiating the service will be Rev. Kent Greer, pastor of Shreveport Pentecostals. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery in Oak Grove Community near Converse, LA. Visitation will be Friday, June 29, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Mr. Simmons was born on April 15, 1935 in Converse, LA to the late Dalton and Hattie Lou Simmons and entered into rest on June 27, 2012 in Shreveport, La. Jerry was a native to Noble, LA. He graduated from Noble High School in 1955. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, gardening, and most importantly spending time with his family. He was a lifelong Pentecostal, which he served in many capacities and was a member of the Shreveport Pentecostals Church. Jerry was a retired Dairyman, who will be dearly missed by many family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Frances Carolyn McDonald Simmons; and son, Jerry Lynn Simmons.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Richard Valery Simmons and his wife, Suzie of Converse, LA and Roger Kevin Simmons and companion, Thelma Claycomb of Stonewall, LA; grandchildren, Richard Tyler Simmons, Suzanah Leigh "Analeigh" Simmons, Talton Chase Simmons, and Jared Austin Simmons; and brothers, Donald Simmons and wife, Priscilla Shreveport, LA and Bobby Simmons and wife, Etty of Noble, LA.

Honoring Mr. Simmons as pallbearers will be Larry Campbell, Tommy Campbell, Norman Campbell, Mike Head, Danny Campbell, and Bill Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Campbell and Mike Price.

The family would like to send a special thanks to his home health nurse, Chelsea.
