James McCormick Goslin III

James McCormick Goslin III, age 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, August 27, 2012. A native of Shreveport, Jimmy graduated from Byrd High School and received his M.B.A from Louisiana Tech.

Jimmy developed strong relationships throughout his career as a property manager and realtor with Goslin & Associates, petroleum land man with Crystal Oil, and salesman at Twin State Trucks.

Jimmy will be remembered most by his family as an extraordinary husband, father and grandfather. To his closest friends, especially Johnny Pace, Charles Kihneman, Steve Nicholson and Vernon Hastings, Jimmy was a constant source of companionship and support. All who had the honor of knowing Jimmy will continue to cherish his quick wit, love of fast cars and motorcycles, and passion for bass fishing. Through everything, Jimmy never lost his sense of humor or ability to make others laugh.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents James and Nettie Goslin, granddaughter Megan, father-in-law Jack Grigsby, sister- in-law Camille Thigpen, and brother-in-law Richard Grigsby. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Polly Grigsby Goslin, son Michael Brian Goslin, daughter Melissa Goslin Collins, grandchildren Finnegan James Collins and Chloe Evangeline Collins, mother-in-law Pauline Grigsby Vann, brother-in-law Michael D. Grigsby and wife Jeanie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Rose-Neath Marshall Street chapel, with a service officiated by Brother Harrell Shelton at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Scott Boniol, the Christus Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center, and the Hospice of Shreveport-Bossier staff for their excellent care. To Dr. Wayne Barksdale, they wish to express their deepest thanks for not only being Jimmy's long-time physician, but also a friend and immense source of comfort.
