SHREVEPORT, LA-Betty Mae VanBuskirk Doty, age 71, died Saturday, September 15, 2012, in Shreveport, LA. She was born in Olney, Illinois on November 24, 1940. She was preceded in death by her mother, Buena Mae VanBuskirk; father, Raymond Von VanBuskirk; and two brothers, Raymond and Robert VanBuskirk. Betty is survived by her daughter, Sheri Doty Harrison; her son-in-law, Jimmy Charles "Chuck" Harrison; and her four grandchildren: Courtney, Seth, Connor, and Spencer Harrison.
The most important thing in her world was her daughter, Sheri Elaine. Everything she did was to make a good life for herself and her daughter. That love doubled when her daughter married; she embraced a son, Chuck Harrison, into her heart. Her world became even brighter when she welcomed her grandchildren. She doted on and loved her grandchildren more than words can convey. Courtney, Seth, Connor, and Spencer Harrison made her life complete and filled her world with love, laughter, jokes, and good times. She spoiled them with chocolate chip cookies and fudge, but more importantly with hugs and unconditional love. She loved them all so much. Betty made so many memories with them and shared in so many things. She loved the noise and the chaos they brought into her life. Betty worked as the bookkeeper at Jean Simpson Personnel Services for 37 years until her retirement in 2009.
Services for Betty Doty will be at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012. Pallbearers will be her son-in-law, Chuck Harrison; her three grandsons, Seth Harrison, Connor Harrison, Spencer Harrison; and Andrew Ray.
