Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Dick Freeman, 80, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Dick was born on May 20, 1932 in Little Rock, AR and passed away on November 9, 2012 in Shreveport, LA. He worked in the automotive industry for 35 years. Mr. Freeman was very dedicated and devoted to his family and loved them very much. As a young man he was involved in Caddo Heights sports and as he and other players grew older they maintained their relationships and were always known as the Caddo Heights Codgers. Dick loved music and enjoyed playing the organ. He was a fan of both LSU and Arkansas college football. Mr. Freeman was very church oriented. Dick began by organizing a couples ministry at Springs of Grace and then taught Sunday School classes to children at Summer Grove.
Preceding Mr. Freeman in death were his parents, Buddy and Geneva Freeman; brother, Jimmy Freeman and granddaughter, Dollie Freeman.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Dick is his loving wife of 62 years, Mae Freeman; sons, Rick Freeman and wife Barbara James, Larry Freeman and wife Susan; daughter, Kathy Harris and husband Charlie; one brother, Tommy Freeman; sisters, Ann Fomby, Janet Brickell; sister-in-law, Gloria Freeman; 5 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to the Children's Ministry at Summer Grove Baptist Church, 8924 Jewella Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71118.
