BENTON, LA - Wayland E. Dickson, 93, born February 11, 1919 in Red River Parish passed away November 13, 2012 from complications of pneumonia. Wayland is survived by two daughters, Joyce Batt and husband David, Dorothy LeBaron and husband Hugh, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Lois Bamburg Dickson and his son Billy E. Dickson.

Wayland served in the Navy during World War 2 where he saw action at Iwo Jima on a minesweeper. He was a salesman for 10 years for Nabisco before opening his own business, Bossier Appliance where he sold the first television set sold in Bossier Parish. He later owned Trade Mart Mobile Homes and was in the used car business.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a longtime member of Brookwood Baptist Church. He donated his body to the LSU Medical School. The family suggests memorials to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, 7200 Desiard St., Monroe, La. 71203.
