HAUGHTON, LA - Memorial services for retired CMSGT Bruce D. Nichols, 66, will be held at Eastwood Church of Christ, Haughton, Louisiana on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 10 a.m. with Minister Norman Moore officiating.
Bruce was born on September 27, 1946 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He passed away from a massive heart attack on November 16, 2012 at his home.
Bruce served in the United States Air Force from February 21, 1966 - January 3, 2005. He was also a Ham Operator for many years. After retirement he was greatly involved with his home church congregation. Bruce helped start the Eastwood congregation in Haughton, La. He served as the treasurer and as an Elder there. He helped build and maintain the property. He loved God, his country and his family more than anything. But his greatest love was for God. Bruce's goal was to get to Heaven and influence as many as he could to get there also.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Nichols of Haughton, his beloved brother and best friend, Ken Nichols and wife Jean of Shreveport, La.; his brother, Ralph Nichols of Bossier City, La.; his son, Darren Nichols and wife Jeanne of Chalmette, La; son, Brandon Coker and wife Lauren of Haughton, La.; daughters, Heather Gray of Benton, La., Kim Birchfield of Haughton, La., Suzette Brown and her husband Robert of Haughton, La.; grandchildren, Hayley Nichols, Peyton and Jayden Birchfield, Connor and Cameron Gray, Savanna and Summer Coker, Ian Nichols. Also survived by close family friends, Mary and Jerry Rowe of Bossier City, La., Jan and Bill Hill of Bentonville, Ark., and many more too numerous to name.
Preceded in death were his parents Elsie and Ward Nichols of Bossier City, La. and his first wife Glenda, whom he was married for 44 years, his sister and her husband Eleanor and Raymond McDaniel.
