Visitation for friends and family will be at 1:00 p.m. followed by services at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Springville Cemetery in Coushatta.

Laura was born on April 14, 1919 in Saline, Louisiana to the late Lennie Mae Row McCain and Robert Lee McCain. After graduation from Saline High School Laura met and married John Edward Stratton from Minden, Louisiana. She and J.E. moved to Coushatta where they became an integral part of the town and raised their family.

Laura loved her church family at the First Baptist Church of Coushatta where she taught Sunday school in the primary department for many years and worked with vacation bible school. Her strong alto voice was always a part of the choir and she was still preparing for the Christmas music at Colonial Oaks up until the day she died.

Laura's large family always congregated at their house for family gatherings and on holidays. She was always known for her gift of gab and her great home cooking. Friends often gathered after Sunday night church for "fellowship" at the Stratton's.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward; sisters Grace Walker, Aline Pullig and Pauline Bridges; brothers Samuel Vain, and Elton McCain; son Charles Edward Stratton, Sr., infant granddaughter Marilyn Ann Stratton, twin great-grandchildren Courtney and Taryn and an infant Great-great grandchild, McKenzie.

Left to cherish her memory is her son Gary Len Stratton Sr., and wife Nina; daughter, Janet Ellen Stratton Stinson and her friend James Cardelli; daughter-in-law Diane Stratton; sisters Wanda Straka and her husband Bill and Jean Saxon; as well as one brother Leonard McCain and his wife, Margie. Surviving grandchildren include Joyce Ann Pullig, Robert Stratton, Charles Edward Stratton, Jr., Jennifer Short, Gary Len Stratton, Jr., Mark Alan Brian and Kelli Keith; eight great-grandchildren and two Great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews will also miss their Aunt Laura.

Pallbearers will be Mark Brian, Delane Stratton, Charles Stratton, Jr., Tommy Glen Jones, David Hanna and Scott Keith. Honorary pallbearer is Robert Stratton.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Colonial Oaks Nursing Home for their loving and compassionate care of Miss Laura who never let them forget her reign as "Queen" in 2010.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Shriners Children Hospital, Shreveport, Louisiana. Donations can be made online.
