Horace Lynn was born on January 11, 1928, to Horace and Ida West Wiggins, and passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Preceding him in death were his parents, Horace and Ida Wiggins. Horace Lynn grew up with his parents in West Brothers department store in Mansfield. In high school he was the drum major in the MHS band. He attended LSU in Baton Rouge for his first year of college before enlisting in the U.S. Army, in which he spent almost two years in Seoul, Korea, toward the end of World War II. After returning home, he attended Centenary College in Shreveport while also working at West Brothers. After graduating from Centenary in 1949, he worked at various locations as an assistant manager with West Brothers. He met his wife Sue Lederman when he worked as assistant manager in the Helena store. Shortly after their marriage, they were transferred to the Mansfield, LA West Brothers store, where their two children, Rebecca and Lynn, were born. West Brothers sent Horace Lynn to New York University, where he obtained a Master's degree in retailing. Afterwards, he became a store manager in Tallulah, LA, and then a buyer in DeRidder for all of the West Brothers stores.

In 1963, Horace Lynn left the home office in DeRidder and formed his own West Brothers company with three stores. Over the next eighteen years, he added thirteen more stores, eventually selling the company in 1981. He later became an electrical contractor and worked for the next twenty-five years in that field. He was a member of First Baptist Church, serving at various times as chairman of the deacons, chairman of the construction committee, and on other committees as well. He has been a director at the Community Bank of Mansfield for forty-eight years, and has served on the executive board for the last ten years. He was also a member of the Mansfield Lion's Club, serving as President several times. One of his favorite things to do was to cook breakfast for a group of his friends at his office downtown, which he did each week until the end of October this year.

Pallbearers will be Reimer Calhoun Jr., Judson Rives, Raymond Powell, Gary Hobbs, Toby Shaw, and Robert Davidson. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Mansfield, 1710 McArthur Drive, Mansfield, LA, 71052, or the organization of your choice.
