SHREVEPORT, LA - Elizabeth Barnett "Libby" Roby peacefully passed away from her earthly life on December 26, 2012 at the age of 84.
Throughout her abundant life Libby enjoyed caring for her family, her home and her friends. She and her husband of 63 years, John Watkins Roby, Jr., made their home and life in Shreveport. They travelled extensively and spent many happy hours with their family on nearby lakes. She made many good friends at the bridge table and in her neighborhood. Libby led her life filled with love, grace and resilience and we will miss her dearly but are inspired by her example of wit, wisdom and family love.
Libby was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Billy Hugh Barnett and Jimmy Russell Barnett.
She is survived by her loving husband, John, and their three children, Bruce and wife Cheryl; Beth; and Bill and wife Susan; nine grandchildren: Chad and wife Jennifer; John and wife Paige; Travis and wife Angie; Eric and fiancée Erica; Chelsea and husband Troy; Neal and wife Renee; Logan; Laura; and Chrystal; and five great grandchildren, all of whom Libby considered her greatest achievement and joy in her life. Libby is also survived by her sister, Jo Ellen Hughes and husband Clint of Tucson, and her brother Raymond Barnett and wife Kathy, of Dallas.
In her own words, Libby "lived a good life" and spent her final years at Village Health Care at The Glen, where she received compassionate and attentive care.
There will be a brief memorial service to celebrate her life at Noel Memorial Methodist Church in the chapel at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 29th with her family receiving friends immediately following in the church parlor. Private interment will follow at a later time.
