SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral services for William D. "Poppy" Jones, 85, will be held at 12 noon Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Randall Smith. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the funeral home.

William was born on December 28, 1927 in Foreman, AR to Daniel and Sara Jones and passed away on January 7, 2013 in Shreveport. He was a resident of Shreveport and a Baptist. He was a retired plumber and also retired from the City of Shreveport. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed camping and carpentry but most of all he enjoyed his family.

Poppy was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, of 65 years, Tommie Lynn Jones; daughters, Brenda Atkins and husband, Gary, Janice Ross and husband, Richard, Theresa Martin and husband, Kenneth; grandchildren, Tracy Wise, Tommy Atkins, (Deanna), Jo Cummings (Troy), Julie Rhodes (Gabe), Lesley Duke (Christon), Dana Fawcett, Matthew Kauffman (Carrie), Trisha Adams; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren and 8 great-step grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Cody Duke, Christopher Atkins, Tommy Atkins, Christon Duke, Matthew Kauffman, Mark Hamil, Troy Cummings, and Gabe Rhodes. Honorary pallbearers are Dawson Atkins, Daniel Duke and Cameron Duke.
