Logansport, La. - Services honoring the life of Robert Roy Rupe, Jr. will be held Friday, January 18, 2013, 10:30 am, at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport, La. with the Bro. Charles Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the O.E. Price Cemetery in Logansport.
The family will receive guests Thursday, January 17 from 5:00 - 7:00 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport.
Robert was born February 1, 1917 to Robert and Eva Rupe in Star City, Arkansas. Robert passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 just before his 96th birthday in Center, TX. He proudly served our country in the Marine Corps during WWII serving in both Pearl Harbor and Guadalcanal. In Guadalcanal he was injured and was awarded the Purple Heart. In his later years, Robert was an avid gardener and loved being outside on his porch swing waving to all who drove by. He was always a loving Dad and GrandDad. Robert was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Logansport until his health began to fail and he moved to the Holiday Nursing Center in Center, TX. Robert loved the Lord, his Country and his Family. He was dearly loved by his family and will remain in their hearts forever.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jimmie Rupe, and his parents.
He is survived by his son, Robert R. Rupe III and his wife Carol of Katy, TX; daughter, Sharon Colvard Thomas and husband Jerry, of Pittsburg, TX: grandchildren, Jimi and Joe Green, Robert Brantley, Jennifer and Jason Allen, Elizabeth and Matt Henderson, 8 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be deacons of the First Baptist Church of Logansport.
