Kathryn (Kaye) Touchstone
SHREVEPORT, LA - Kaye Touchstone died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the age of 87. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, January 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 204 Patton Avenue. Visitation will precede the service in the church foyer at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery St. Vincent.
Kaye was born in 1925 in Globe, Arizona to Clyde & Naoma Stearns. The family later moved to Ft. Worth, Texas where she spent most of her youth. While living in Ft. Worth, she met Jack Touchstone in July of 1946 at the Texas State Fair. They were married in October of that year at a tea room in Ft. Worth.
Jack and Kaye later moved to Shreveport where they raised their two children Suanne and Jack. Kaye touched the lives, of many children and parents at St. Joseph School and Church, where she served in various capacities for 35 years. She was a teacher, coach, secretary, Director of the Learning Center, Assistant to the Principal and Business Manager.
Kaye was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Charlene and Anna Lee, son-in-law Charles Rouse and her infant great grand-daughter Sarah Claire Touchstone. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jack, her daughter Suanne Rouse and her children James Brooks (Allison) of Ft. Collins, CO, Chris Brooks (Ashley) of Dallas, TX, son Jack R. Touchstone (Donna) and his children Katy Touchstone and Trey (Rachel) Touchstone of Shreveport, LA, her brother Bob Stearns (Marianne) of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her stepgrandchildren Chase Rouse (Lyndi), Jana Lovett, Amber Gupta (Rahul), Alexa Carr and Owen Carr. She was especially proud of her great-grandchildren Gordy Brooks, Ella Brooks, Noah Brooks, Lola Gupta and Jack Touchstone. Her extended family at Montclair Pare Assisted Living were very special to her.
Honoring mom as pallbearers will be her grandsons, James Brooks, Chris Brooks and Trey Touchstone as well as Jack Scott, Bill O'Brien, Tony Calantone, Scott Noone and Alan DeLoach.
The family would like to thank Jeff Crane, his staff at Resource Louisiana, Doctor Richard Sipes, and all who helped make this journey with our mother special.
Mom requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to either St. Joseph School, 1210 Anniston Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71105 or St. Joseph Church, 211 Atlantic Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71105.
