SHREVEPORT, LA - Ruth Jennings Tiller, 93, died on January 21, 2013. A memorial service honoring her life will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 1pm at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Marshall Street. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Panola County, Texas. Officiating will be Rev. Matt Rawle of Broadmoor Methodist Church, where Mrs. Tiller was a member for over 60 years. The family will receive visitors Thursday 12pm at the funeral home.
Ruth was born on October 28, 1919 in Princeton, Kansas. She was the third of seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Jennings. She graduated from Alice High School in Alice, Texas, and later moved to Greenwood, where she met her late husband, Lloyd Dewitt Tiller, married, and eventually settled in Shreveport in 1950. Ruth was active working in the Church library at Broadmoor Methodist Church, and an avid fan of college football, especially LSU Tigers and Texas Longhorns. She enjoyed traveling to various places such as Europe and spending time on the beaches of Florida. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was lovingly known to her grandchildren as "GAGA".
Mrs.Tiller was preceded in death by her husband of over 48 years, Lloyd, her parents Frank L. Jennings and Martha Elliott Jennings, sisters Margaret Weathersby and Frances Passmore, and brother Frank L. Jennings, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Janis Tibbitts and Lloyd D. Tiller, Jr. (Shreveport, LA) three beloved grandchildren, Walter G. Tibbitts IV and wife Leah Ann, Laura Ruth Tibbitts (Austin, TX) and Ruth Elizabeth Tiller (Palestine, TX); and newest addition to the family, great-grandson Lucas Daniel Tibbitts. She is also survived by her two sisters Eleanor Stidham and Josephine Walker, brother, William E. Jennings, sister-in-laws Lou Jennings and Betty Jennings, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins she adored.
Ruth's honorary pallbearers will be; Tim Brown, Tommie Davis, Kathy Johnson, Larry Long, Joe Walker and close friend, Dr. Dayne Hassell.
The family expresses their gratitude for the loving care and support she received through the years from so many friends and family members. A special "thank you" to Lisa Ralph and Augie Davis.
