SHREVEPORT, LA - A Memorial Mass celebrating the life of Mary Jane Harter, 85, will be performed by Fr. Francis Kamau at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harter was born on June 12, 1927 in Buffalo, NY and passed away on February 9, 2013 in Shreveport, LA. She was a member of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. Mary Jane was a very compassionate and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She raised ten children who thought the world of her. She was the "rock" of the family.

Preceding her in death were her mother and father, one brother, Richard Maxwell, two sisters, Margaret Smith and Alice McCarthy and her beloved husband of 64 years, John Joseph "Jack" Harter, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jeannine Harter-Dennis (George), Mary Patricia Alford (Jerry), Dennis John Harter (Dorothy), Cheryl Anne Jones (Robert), Kathleen Anne Shepherd (Ron), Sue Anne Gauthier (Joseph), Tammy Lee Hendrickson (Luke), John Joseph Harter, Jr. (Lesley), James Andrew Harter (Marsha), and Paul Francis Harter (Aimee). Mary Jane is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and her faithful dog, "Tristen".

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org/tribute.
