Gigi Louise de Generes Obituary
Gigi Louise de Generes

Gigi Louise de Generes, formerly a resident of Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, died at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport on Feb 8, 2013.

Ms. de Generes was born on March 26, 1959 in Seattle Washington. Her father's career in the Air Force led the family to a life of travel which included an assignment in Germany as well as many locations throughout the US. She recently relocated to Shreveport to spend time with family.

Gigi graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Business. She had a varied career that began in retail before settling into medical equipment sales. This led her to the volunteer work she loved at Roper St Francis Hospital in Charleston. Gigi was recognized for her volunteer service with the rehab team.

She was also a volunteer with Charleston's Spoleto Arts Festival, the American Heart Association, and the Make a Wish Foundation. In her free time Gigi enjoyed classical music, swimming, and taking long walks. She was proud to have participated in a Cooper River Bridge Walk/Run which benefitted various charities and gave her a chance to enjoy the city she loved.

Ms. de Generes is survived by her mother Kathryn Nichols de Generes, currently residing in Shreveport, LA as well as two sisters: Bess de Generes Elder of Shreveport and her husband Bob; and Mickie de Generes Smith of Falls Church, Virginia and her husband Rusty. Gigi was extremely proud of her three nieces: Katie Elder, and Maggie and Marin Smith. She is preceded in death by her father Frederick Souvelle de Generes, Jr.

Gigi loved spending time with her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at the Green Oaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge on February 14 at 10am. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Roper St Francis Hospital to support an organization she loved: https://www.rsfhfoundation.org/don.
