SHREVEPORT, LA-Funeral services for Rev. A. Louis Strain, 80, will be held at 12 noon Friday, February 15, 2013 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Eddie DeHondt. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the funeral home.

Louis was born on August 14, 1932 in Beech Springs, LA. At age 16, Louis surrendered to God's calling to preach. At age 17, he pastored two part-time churches, New Hope BC in Jonesboro and Shady Grove BC near Sikes. Strain later attended LA College and pastored Pine Grove BC near Jena, there he met and married Virginia Strain. The Strains later moved to Shreveport where he began his pastorate as a bi-vocational pastor. In 1960, Louis first pastored Bethel BC where he faithfully served for almost 50 years. He was the founder of Strain Real Estate and Builder. Louis was a member of the West Shreveport Rotary Club.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents Tina Strain and Brady Strain and wife Virginia Strain. He is survived by his children Ginger Moore, widow of John Moore, of Shreveport, Melanie Weaver of Shreveport, Scott Strain of Shreveport, and Jason Strain, wife Dianna, of Frisco, TX. He is survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Todd Mooney, Jacob Strain, Robert Wofford, Casey Jones, John May, and Chester Kelley. Honorary Pallbearers are Taylor Weaver, Caleb Strain, Micah Strain, Jonathan Strain, William Wofford, and Robert Salts.
