Mansfield, LA - Funeral services honoring the life of Hoy Robert Wells,73, will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Mansfield, LA with Dr. William Crosby, Reverend Gary Gregg, and Reverend Jacqueline King officiating. Burial will follow in the Mansfield Cemetery in Mansfield, LA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
Mr. Robert Wells was born on January 19, 1940 in Logansport, Louisiana and entered into rest on February 18, 2013 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hoy and Annie Bell Wells and his loving wife, Artis Harris Wells.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Katherine Wells Shaffer and husband, Dave of Tyler, TX and Cynthia Wells Colclasure and husband, Bruce of Stonewall, LA; grandchildren, Hayden and Weston Shaffer and Steele Colclasure; sisters, Barbara Taylor and husband, Joe of Stanley, LA and Elaine Whitten and husband, L.J. of Logansport, LA; brother, Roger Wells and wife, Tressie of Logansport, LA; along with many other relatives and loving friends.
Mr. Wells served his community as President of the Desoto Parish Waterworks District #1 and through various committees at both the First United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church of Mansfield, LA. He also supported other community and civic functions through his wife, Artis. He retired from Modern Electronics after nearly 40 years, where he was awarded by the National Pecan Sheller's Association for superior service in recognition of his contribution to the growth and betterment of the U.S. pecan shelling industry. After retirement, Robert focused his attention on the flower gardens his wife loved so much. He was proud of his family and found every situation as an opportunity for each of them to strengthen their relationship with the Lord. His grandchildren brought great joy to his life and smiles to his face. He was prepared for eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and looked forward to reuniting with his beloved wife, Artis.
