Presley Montgomery Blount, Jr.

Coushatta, LA - Funeral services for Presley Montgomery Blount, Jr., 91, of Coushatta, LA will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Calvin Phelps officiating. Interment will follow in Springville Cemetery with military graveside rites.

Mr. Blount was born November 18, 1921 in Ft. Worth, TX and passed away May 2, 2013 at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City, LA.

Mr. Blount served his country in the United States Army and was a decorated World War II Veteran. He had received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the Phillippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal, Bronze Star Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He was a very compassionate man who always visited the sick. He not only cared for his family, but also for his neighbors and friends. His life truly reflected that of a Christian man and a faithful servant of God.

Mr. Blount farmed during his later years in life, a passion from which he retired.

He is preceded in death by wives, Emma Jean Watkins Blount and Jean Flenniken Blount; one son, Gary O'Neal Blount; parents, Presley "Jack" and Zelma Blount; two sisters, Betty Jenkins and Lucille Shores; three great-grandchildren, triplets Jessica, Jamie and Jacob Walker.

He is survived by one daughter, Pat Guillory of Coushatta, LA; three grandchildren, Renee Simoneaux of Woodstock, GA, Alice Roy of Coushatta, LA, Greg O'Neal Blount of Houston, TX; three brothers, Cecil Blount of Coushatta, LA, David Blount of San Diego, CA, James Blount of Gulfport, MS; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bennie Peek, Gary Kyson, Tommy Blount, Bobby Yarbrough, Donnie Powell, and Bobby Blount. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Blount, Richard Dalme, and Gene Longino.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and staff at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City, LA.
